Court Turns Down Azma Bokhari’s Request to Record Statement by Video Link

Azma Bokhari

LAHORE: A Lahore court has rejected an application by Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari seeking permission to record her statement through a video link in the fake video case.

The minister had asked the court to allow her evidence to be recorded remotely rather than in person. The application was dismissed, meaning she will be required to appear before the court to record her statement in the ordinary manner.

The case relates to a doctored video circulated online in which the minister’s likeness was used without consent — a matter that has become one of the more closely watched deepfake prosecutions in Punjab.

Further proceedings are expected at the next hearing.
