KARACHI: Two persons of a family were killed when their house caught fire here in the wee hours of Thursday.
According to police sources, a woman and her husband were sleeping in their house located near Tipu Sultan Road area when their house caught fire. Both of them died of suffocation on the spot. Deceased were shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
Two firefighting vehicles extinguished the fire.
In a separate incident, a woman was killed in a firing incident by some unidentified miscreants in Model Colony.
The woman was not identified yet.
Meanwhile, despite ongoing targeted operation and non-stop arrests of criminal elements the street and other crimes also continue. Police have arrested at least 20 suspects in various operations and alleged encounters in various parts of the city.
The police arrested two most wanted proclaimed criminals Omer Iqbal and Madada Ali with arms.
The arrested suspects are affiliated with a political party. Police claimed that police mobile sustained partial damage from the suspects’ firing.
Two suspects were arrested in injured condition after police encounter in Ittehd Town. Police said that suspects opened fire on the police van.
A heavy contingent of police conducted a house-to-house search in PNT Colony and Lower Gizri in a search operation late Wednesday night. At least 20 suspects were taken into custody during the operation.
