Sindh govt to administer polio drops to 1,016,499 children of Karachi: Jam Mehtab

KARACHI: Minister for Health Sindh, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that the provincial government has set a target of administering polio drops to 1,016,499 children of Karachi aged under 5-year during the new phase of Polio drive to be launched from October 07.

Presiding over a meeting in his office here on Thursday, the campaign will be launched in 80 union councils of six districts of Karachi and 2795 mobile teams will perform their duties. He said that during the campaign 153,548 children in Central district, 219,143 children in Malir district, 472,927 children in district West, 7965 children in district South, 55719 children in district East while 107,197 children in district East would be administered polio drops.

Jam Mehtab said that after completion of the drive against polio in Karachi, a similar campaign for 14 districts of interior Sindh with a target of 4,053,238 children in 644 Union Councils will be held from 12 October to 15 October Hyderabad, Larkana, Dadu, Jamshoro, Sanghar, Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Naushahro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur and Kambar districts will be covered during the campaign.’

The Health Minister showed his concern over number of cases of dengue diagnosed patients in spite of spray against dengue virus and directed the program incharge to ensure effective spray against dengue virus and submit a report against the cases.
