LAHORE: Lahore Commissioner Nauman Yousuf inspected Gaddafi Stadium on Friday to review security, traffic and municipal arrangements for four one-day internationals the city will host from Oct 25 to 31, including the final of the tri-series between Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka.
He was briefed on entry points, queue management, cleanliness and traffic flow outside the stadium. The district administration and police were in full contact with the Pakistan Cricket Board and all arrangements were being carried out in full, he said. Control rooms of the district administration and police will be set up with live monitoring.
The series opens in Rawalpindi on Oct 18. Lahore will host Pakistan against England on Oct 25, Pakistan against Sri Lanka on Oct 27, Sri Lanka against England on Oct 29, and the final on Oct 31.
Police had already ordered foolproof security for the series. For Lahore, which hosted Sri Lanka in 2009 when its team bus was attacked near Liberty Chowk, staging a final involving two visiting sides is a milestone in the city’s return to international cricket.
