LAHORE: Bhati Gate police have arrested two members of a motorcycle theft gang who were hiding in a local park, recovering stolen bikes and illegal weapons in the operation.
Police said the suspects had been stealing motorcycles from different parts of the city and fleeing the scene before owners could react. The two men attempted to escape while being taken into custody, but the attempt failed.
Two stolen motorcycles and unlicensed weapons were recovered from their possession. The arrested men were identified as Arif and Irfan. Cases have been registered against them and further investigation is under way.
Motorcycle theft remains one of the highest-volume property crimes reported in Lahore, and police have been running a sustained drive against organised gangs operating across divisional boundaries. Investigators will now try to establish how many earlier thefts the pair can be linked to, and whether the recovered bikes match outstanding complaints.
SP City Atif Amir commended SHO Bhati Gate Ali Naqi and his team for the swift action.
