LAHORE: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore has released the rainfall tally for the latest spell, with Gulshan-e-Ravi taking the heaviest hit.

According to WASA figures, Gulshan-e-Ravi recorded 47.2 millimetres of rain — comfortably the highest reading in the city. Saggian logged 10.8mm, while Samanabad measured a comparatively light 1.4mm.

The uneven spread is typical of Lahore’s monsoon pattern, where a single cell can dump heavy rain over a handful of neighbourhoods while leaving areas a few kilometres away almost dry.

Rain was reported on Mall Road and in several other parts of the city through the afternoon, bringing a welcome drop in temperature and a noticeably pleasant turn in the weather after days of humidity.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department had forecast thundershowers for Lahore, and a fresh monsoon spell has been flagged for parts of Punjab. WASA’s drainage teams remain deployed at low-lying points across the city, where standing water is a recurring complaint during heavy spells.

Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and to avoid known ponding spots during and immediately after showers.
